I had hoped to attend tonight's meeting to alert the members about this
citizen science opportunity that comes around every year at this time.
This year's dates are March 3 - 16. http://www.globeatnight.org/

The Globe at Night program allows students and families, teachers and
astronomers, to match Orion in their night sky to an online magnitude
chart, enter their data, and be a part of mapping light pollution around
the globe. The idea, of course, is to increase awareness of light
pollution, and appreciation and stewardship of dark skies.

I hope that all CHAOS members will contribute a data point during this
time period.

We'll be sharing this information at Morehead observing sessions on Feb.
19 at Little River Regional Park and Feb. 20 at Jordan Lake, as well as
teachers and students who visit the planetarium.

Have fun tonight.

Mickey
