[Chaos-l] Ugh... and Alas...

The "ugh" part: Looks like truly wretched skies for tonight and
tomorrow. So, no dark-site observing session.
And the "alas" part: It appears we will not be able to continue to use
the Currin's farm as the CHAOS observing dark site. Until further
notice, all "dark site" sessions are replaced with Farrington Point
sessions, unless Robert is leading a Medoc expedition.
We are therefore searching for a new dark site to be the "official"
CHAOS dark-site observing location. The basic requirements:
Limiting magnitude at zenith 5.9 or better.
Travel time 60-90 minutes from Chapel Hill (shorter is better)
Per-session observing fee less than $2 per person per night (free is
better)
Preferred:
Light domes < 30 deg. above horizon
Treeline < 20 deg. above horizon in at least 2 directions (west and
south, if we have a choice)
Access for spontaneous observing sessions on 24 hr notice (or less!)
Lockable with CHAOS owned combination.
Porta-potty or higher quality facilities.
Any nominations?
J.
