[Chaos-l] Article in Chapel Hill News: need follow-up to paper

Hi all. I would normally do this myself, but i'm going slightly nuts
doing work for Astronomy Day.

The article in the Chapel Hill News was overall fairly balanced, maybe
even positive, and presented most of the info in a way that's good for
better lighting prospects.

However, their lead sentence is an issue: "The town may be a little
darker if [rules change]".

In fact, the _town_ will be a little brighter, since light would be
directed down, where it belongs, rather than being wasted on the tops
of trees and the undersides of birds and airplanes.

Would somebody take the time and effort to send the paper a polite but
firm letter about the Big Propaganda Issue with that first sentence?
The General Public will almost certainly see a "darker town" as a Bad
Thing, and many folks won't read past the first 1 or 2 sentences.

Key points:

o Better lighting on ground <--- !!!
o Reduces wasted energy, & therefore:
+ saves money
+ reduces depend on foreign energy
+ fights climate change
+ reduces traditional pollution
o Better for wildlife (birds etc.)
o Oh, and also better for astronomers.

Thanks.

J.
