Hi all. Not to late to spread the word about Astronomy Day at Little
River Park THIS Saturday, 3:30 'til 9:30.

Spread the word to neighbors and friends. Just as a what-the-heck, i
sent an e-mail with the info to the local AM radio (WCHL), and they
called me an hour later for an over-the-phone interview. So, send the
info to anybody you can think of. Oh, and if somebody asks for an
interview, be more coherent than i was.

The Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observing Society (CHAOS), Little
River Park, and the Triangle astronomy community invite everyone to
celebrate Astronomy Day on April 24th 2010 from 3:30 - 9:30 on the
grounds of the park off Guess Road north of Durham.

The daytime activities start at 3:30 pm, rain or shine, and continue
'til dusk. The NC Museum of Natural Sciences will bring some of the
Animals of the Constellations. Kids can make a pocket solar system to
take home. The Raleigh Astronomy Club will be holding telescope
clinics to help you learn to setup and use that telescope hanging
around your house. CHAOS will present a scale model of the solar
system, safe solar observing, musical astronomy, and information on
light pollution and buying telescopes. We'll give away some copies of
the "On the Shoulders of Giants" CD donated by The Chromatics on the
hour from 4:00 'til 7:00, and stickers and bookmarks from NASA all day.

The evening observing session depends on the weather. If the skies
are clear, we'll hold a Constellation Tour at 8:30 and 9:00. People
are welcome to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, and we'll be
happy to answer questions and try to help you get the most out of your
equipment. If you don't have your own equipment, we're looking forward
to sharing. In addition to Constellation Tours, we'll be pointing
'scopes at the Moon, Mars, Saturn, double stars, and star clusters.
