[Chaos-l] Tonights Meeting

Well, actually it was a different one that I was talking about! The
one we saw was comet C/2009 K5 McNaught ... in Camelopardalis. I knew
about the one you mention as well ... but you have to get up (or stay
up) to see it in the morning. The K5 comet is visible early at night
... in the north. In fact, it rotates closer to the horizon as the
night progresses ... so you need to catch it as soon after sunset as you
can. The tail wasn't very long ... but definitely visible (in my 12"
scope). And under higher magnification, we could see some structure in
the head.

The other notable thing last night that we saw was Uranus and Jupiter in
the same field-of-view. The horizon was cloudy ... and the views of
Jupiter were not the best I've seen ... but you could definitely see
Jupiter, the four Galilean moons, and Uranus at the bottom of the
field! Not sure if you can see the same tonight ... they might be
moving further apart now.
