I hope you've all heard by now - about the NC Science Festival. Two
weeks in September dedicated to real people doing real science all
across the state.
Here's the web page. http://www.ncsciencefestival.org/
Check the calendar and you'll see that there are lots of events every
day, including our regular observing at Jordan Lake on Sept. 11. You
don't need to design a special event for the festival, just enter your
already-scheduled events on the calendar.

If you're on RAC's listserv, you have noticed that they are preparing
for activities on the Expo day, Sept. 25, on the UNC campus.

I'd really like to see CHAOS on the calendar somewhere, and I have an
idea I thought I'd share. Planning is underway for an International
Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, September 18.
Here's the website, currently under construction -
http://observethemoonnight.org/

I've already committed to Moon observing with a private group (kids
birthday party) that night for 45 minutes or so, but I was wondering if
the CHAOS members might want to organize around a more public event -
maybe even on a busy street, mall parking lot, or around a sundial. Any
opportunity for a little ambush astronomy.

I would be very happy to join in if there is interest.

Mickey
