Hi Amy,
The the last eclipse that was watched in Chapel Hill was partly cloudy. The moon would pop out in sucker holes in the clouds.
If I remember correctly, the eclipse was visible at the critical time.

Subject: [Chaos-l] seeking memories of Feb. 20, 2008 total lunar eclipse
Hi, all -
I'm writing a post for the Morehead Planetarium blog to encourage the public to watch the upcoming total lunar eclipse. And for that, I'd like to know how viewing conditions were for the Chapel Hill area the LAST time we had a total lunar eclipse, Feb. 20, 2008.
I was at Ocracoke Island that night and we saw it there. But what about Chapel Hill? I vaguely recall it was cloudy for much of North Carolina that night - is that correct? Does anyone remember seeing the eclipse elsewhere in North Carolina?
thanks,
Amy Sayle
