Walter,
The interesting/funny thing is that I didn't think I had gotten any photos after the big sucker hole came through around the time totality started. But for most of the night, what I had done was told the computer to take a picture every 30 seconds (and of course the telescope mount was still tracking). When I got home and looked at the 600-700 pictures, I saw some at the end that actually showed something!
I guess the motto for an amateur astronomer in NC should be "optimism and perseverance"!
So did you know it was basically clear the entire time over at Medoc Mountain State Park? Yep ... I was texting one of my friends over there. I was in Pittsboro myself.
