Our Human Future in Outer Space: Cooperation, Security, and International Space Law

What will our human future in outer space look like? How does international law regulating human activity in outer space impact our development as a spare faring society and as a species?

Join international space law specialist Michael Mineiro as we explore our human future in outer space. Michael will discuss the impact of key international space law agreements on the development of outer space, starting with the early days of the Cold-War, through the present, and into the future. The focus of his discussion will be on outer space cooperation and security.

Bio:
Mr. Mineiro is a Boeing Doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Air & Space Law, McGill University<http://www.mcgill.ca/iasl/>. He holds a Legal Masters in Air & Space Law (McGill University, 2008), Juris Doctor (University of North Carolina, 2005), and Bachelors of Arts in International Relations (N.C. State University, 2001), with additional studies undertaken at the Hague Academy of International Law (2010), Beijing Language & Culture University (2005), and the University of Hong Kong (2004). A published scholar in top-ranking legal journals, trade journals, and monographs<http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/cf_dev/AbsByAuth.cfm?per_id=1104261>, Michael delivers unique expertise in the fields of export controls, U.S. air & space regulation, suborbital flight liability and licensing, spaceports, and space security. His doctoral thesis, scheduled for book publication in 2011, is on aerospace export & trade controls, focusing on U.S. ITARs and their nexus to U.S.-China trade.

We hope to see you there.

Thanks,
Jonathan
