[Chaos-l] Question about telescope

Michelle,

The Orion Skyquest is a fine telescope ... and would be a great purchase. The *only* thing that I would mention is that many of my friends who have gotten their first scope have some slight regrets that they didn't get a 10-inch scope, instead of an 8-inch. I realize the XT10 is $200 more ... but if you can swing that, I would suggest upgrading to the larger scope ... you will be able to see many more objects. But the XT8 will be fine for most things.

And I just want to make sure you understand that the SkyQuest is a visual observing scope. If you ever want to take pictures, I would suggest something different. But most people don't worry about that with their first scope.

From what I've been reading on the internet, the Orion skyquest xt8 looks like a great one. Can anyone give us advice about it? Is it worth getting this one over the xt6, or is there an entirely different one that is preferable?
