Hi Michelle,
According to John Miller's link, the Zhumell 8" scope is on sale (10% off *
today*) and ships free. The Zhumell includes two eyepieces (you're gonna
need eyepieces) and a laser alignment tool...not a bad package. The two
inch 30mm eyepiece will deliver 40X magnification and the 9mm eyepiece will
give you 133X. That's enough to get started. You might want to add
another eyepiece or two later.
Regarding anxiety to order NOW, the Zhumell site points out that if you
order today, it arrives Thursday...problem solved! But, be prepared for a
spell of rainy weather anytime you order astronomy equipment.
While it's generally an excellent idea to visit an astronomy club observing
session to look at and through a variety of telescopes before deciding which
one to purchase, sometimes you simply need a telescope NOW. I think an
aperture of eight inches is a good place to start.
Welcome to the heavenly quest,
Jim
