[Chaos-l] Good night at Medoc

Well, the CSC underestimated the seeing tonight.  Saturn was really a
smashing success.  Used the 6MM Ethos at 423x on the 20" and it was razor
sharp.  What a pleasure to see such a nice view.  Could see cloud detail not
only below the rings, but close to that pole as well.  We were able to
glimpse Enceladus very fleetingly using averted vision.just above the rings.

 

A really neat view and what a thrill to use those high powers.  It was a
sultry hazy summer night, and perfect for this.

 

The moon was also a beautiful sight....the terminator with long obvious
shadows behind some of those tall mountain peaks...very awe inspiring.  Felt
like I could touch it.

 

A short but worthwhile trip.

 

Thanks to Michael and Sandi, who brought their daughter Ashley, and also
Jason and Alexey for coming.  Thanks too Robert Nielsen for texting me and
doing some long distance observing together....allen
