For any of you living in Chapel Hill, the mayor's office has extended an
invitation to view and comment on the town's development plans. If nothing
else it might be an opportunity to keep light pollution concerns on the
town's radar.

Dear Community Leader ,****
** **
The Town of Chapel Hill is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a planning and
visioning document that creates a framework for the community to guide the
Town Council in managing Chapel Hill’s future over the next 20 years. As a
leader in our community, we want you to be a part of this effort, *Chapel
Hill 2020 - Our Town, Our Vision*.****
** **
Rather than relying on staff to develop the plan and then simply permitting
the community to comment on it, we want those who live, work, study, invest
and play in Chapel Hill to lead staff in developing the vision for our
town. While the community will be guiding the vision and priority areas,
we expect the key topic areas will likely include transportation, land use,
sustainability and housing, and others. Participants like you will help
imagine how the Town can continue to evolve, provide services and grow into
the community’s vision.****
** **
I hope you will accept my personal invitation to attend our kick-off event
where the key themes and priorities will be identified and the vision
developed. ****

last bus leaves the school at 5:45 pm. If you need transit service home at
the end of the meeting, please let us know before September 20th by
calling (919)
968-2728 or emailing: compplan at townofchapelhill.org.****
* *
The entire planning process will last about a year. While we sincerely hope
you will be able to participate in this effort, we know your time is
valuable. You will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing
committees, or just attend a meeting or two if that is all you can commit
to. As a community leader, we know you may know other people that would
also have great ideas to contribute; you are encouraged to extend this
invitation to them as well.****
