Had a good night out in my pasture as well with the 18er.
Found that new super nova in M101 as well as chased down the comet in Sagitta.
There were more field stars near 101 than I expected and it took me a
bit to get the SN located.

The comet is nice, but not awesome yet. Easily visible in the 12x36
binoculars with a hint of a tail.
The 18er showed it quite a bit brighter, but the tail was less
obvious. I've been watching this one for a week now in the
binoculars.

I went after the Ring nebula when it was almost overhead. I was able
to glimpse the central star occasionally when I was at 400X.
Seeing was good, but not perfect and it would come in, the back out.

Also toured the Eagle, Swan, Trifid, and Lagoon Nebulas. I was using
the filter slide and switching around between the Skyglow, Ultrablock,
OIII, and Hb fitlers. They all responded quite well to the OIII and
Hb filters. The Eagle shape was extremely obvious with the filters
and the swan was showing me lots of knotty detail around the breast of
the swan, as well as the big sweeping clouds of nebula surrounding it.

Summer is really Globular time, but there are some dandy emission
nebula as well.

Going back out again tonight if the CSC holds!
