Hi all. IOMN at Burgaw Middle School went pretty well. We had maybe
a 15-20 kids and parents come out for the daytime activities, and stay
for the evening observing. They got to erode the surfaces of the
earth and moon, orbit the sun and earth, travel the solar system from
the sun out to Jupiter, mine the moon for minerals, direct asteroids
and comets to impact the moon, and observe the moon through 3
telescopes and two pairs of binoculars. We even had a reporter and
attending photographer, who asked questions and took pictures
respectively. CHAOS was mentioned prominently during the interviews.
Thanks especially to Jayme for making the long trek down to Burgaw to
help out, and to to bring one of the Duke 8"ers. Much appreciated.
The next BMS astronomy to-do will probably be Astronomy Day in
spring. We'll keep you posted.
J.
