[Chaos-l] [Medoc-mountain-men] FW: [southern_stars] Prediction of Jovian events for tonight

Just to summarize, there is supposed to be an Io transit and shadow transit
that cross the GSR tonight.  The program Sky Safari is so well done that it
can show this.  This is the program that Robert N., Mark C, and I have been
using either on the Mac, or IPAD.  NEAT!  

Of course it has clouded up considerable here, but maybe.....allen

Especially for you imagers out there..this is supposed to happen tonight.
The predictions for weather aren't as exciting though.but I still may have
to set up my Genesis, or the Tak to see if it is visible.  Unusual to have
this happen and something to record if any of you are so inclined or can.

Wayne-

Yes.  Make sure you have the light time correction turned on - if not, the
app will be wrong by about 40 minutes (e.g. light travel time from Jupiter).

Otherwise, the math should all be accurate.  We even tweaked the formula for
longitude of the GRS to better match reality in the last update :)  You are
welcome to double-check my math with other programs, etc. - or even better
yet, just go out and watch it!

Sadly, we won't be able to see this from San Francisco (the transit is
already over by the time Jupiter rises for us.)  So let me know how it
looks!
