We had a good crowd and beautiful skies last night. There were about 40 folks that came

out to the telescopes last night. Mike Gallagher, Richard McColeman, Phillip Suitt and myself were the

tour guides for the evening. When I asked the children what they saw? Many said the Moon.

I would tell them that they were looking at a Planet, Jupiter, There faces would light up in amazement

and go back in for another look.

Jupiter had the appearance of 5 moons last night because of a near by star that had about the same brightness.

It was a nice effect. We also looked at M57, M13, M45 and others. The Milky Way was easy to see even

with the lights near by.

It was cold so the observing was cut short by the parents. Everyone had a great time. The teachers

came out and told us that they had over heard the children talking about what they saw which is why

I enjoy these kind of events.

We'll do it again next year.
