Thanks once again to those who came last night. I knew I wouldn't stay too
awful late because I was a bit tired, but when the sun goes down so "early "
now, getting in 5 or 6 hours of observing before midnight isn't so hard.
Jim E., Jason, Ian, Matt, Michael C., and Bruno thanks for coming guys. The
skies were very nice. I have actually seen a bit more transparent, but it
was a very nice night. The seeing actually was quite good, and it was a joy
looking at Europa (shades of last week) transiting. A very nice view
through Jim's 18 of the moon in front of the planet. M15 was a really
glorious sight early. I forget every year how M15 hangs around to give us a
glob fix while most of the bright ones are disappearing.
We also reached out to about 10 or 15 folks from the campground. Especially
a family with a boy named Tyler who really seemed to pick up on thing
easily. He named the Veil the "Broken Rope" nebula. And thought Cygnus
looked more like a sword than a swan. I can buy that.
They wanted to be added to the group so it grows.
Jason made a "hellatious" fire...the biggest I've seen, and felt, at Medoc
since the "old days". It was GREAT!
Till next time. allen
