Hello all,

I was delighted to attend the meeting last night and to meet a few of my new friends at CHAOS. And wasnt the lecture great? I was really impressed!

A bit of my background....I began observing in 1969, and parts of my scope from then..an Edmund 4 1/4" Palomar  Junior...remain with me to this day in the form of my f4 RFT. Im currently building a 10" f6 3-pole strut dob. Hopefully it will be completed in January.

Im excited about this pet project, but it remains to be seen how well she turns out. Ill be interested in the club's critiques and suggestions for improvement! Ive had the primary re-figured by Cary at Optic Waves Lab; it seems to have turned out well, altho has not seen first light yet. Cary reports a P-V wavefront error of 1/8.75 wave, and I especially like the reported Strehl of 987. Now it's up to me to build a good cell for it; the PLOP program is great for that!

I am looking forward to getting back into the hobby more than ever, and having friends to share with/learn from will be a great thing for me indeed.

In closing, many thanks for welcoming me into the club; Im excited about making new friends who share this hobby, and I encourage everyone to get in touch with me for any impromptu viewing sessions. I have much to learn and am looking forward to many years of fun with you all.

BTW I live 1/2-way between Pittsboro and Sanford. I just recieved permission to use a pretty dark field here for observing, and hopefully I can host some viewing sessions there for us all. Ill be checking with the owner about that.

Best,
Terry
