[Chaos-l] Staunton River Star Party a Reality

Jayme presented the latest plans on *CHAOS's Staunton River Star Party* at
last night's meeting in addition to Mike Gallagher's excellent if somewhat
whacky (you know Mike) presentation at last night's meeting.  This star
party is scheduled for *Thurs. Mar 22 to Sun. Mar 25* at the Staunton River
State Park just over the state line in Virginia (prob a bit *less than 2
hrs drive from here*) and it's really going to happen!  Jayme and others
have made plans for a MASPesque type event with talks, food, vendors as
well as a dark site.  I made a reservation for a 2 bedroom cabin today and
there are others that are still available.  I think that I probably have
enough family coming to fill my cabin (although we can accomodate visitors
if it's cold, rainy or otherwise inclement) but I would suggest that those
who are planning on going think about carpooling and sharing a 2 bedroom
cabin which would cut the cost in half (even less if you "pack 'em in!").
I haven't been to the park yet but Jayme has made several trips and these
star parties will be regular club events that may well grow into regional
events.  The Richmond Astronomy Club is interested in participating as well
as the Raleigh Club so* get those cabins quick*!  Of course there is
also space for tents and I think that there are also plans for RV spaces.
A website describing all of this in detail will be up soon but I got
excited and wanted those interested to get those cabin reservations now.
This will put CHAOS as well as Staunton River State Park on the map.  *Start
making plans*.  Walter
