[Chaos-l] Tonight

Looking at all forecasts my gut is of course that things will not be good
early on, during the time scheduled for the program.  The CSC has actually
improved, showing clear skies by 800pm but bad seeing.  My main concern
right now is wind.  I looked at NWS and the wind forecast if pretty bad even
into the evening.  20-30 miles per hour with higher gusts.  If that is the
case we all know that won't allow setting up our scopes.  

 

Randy has said that he would bring his cub scouts regardless, as getting
there badge involves setting up a scope and I am perfectly willing to do
that under the shelter if necessary.  I have emailed him that if they could
come Saturday then they might have a better chance at seeing something.

 

So we'll all just watch things, but right now, it appears that tonight will
not be the best night.  I don't know for sure if Ryan is actually going to
"cancel"..but even if he does, we could still have someone show up expecting
something.  I am going to plan to go no matter what.  When I get off work at
500pm or possibily a little earlier, I will hook up my trailer and head up
there.  If the weather is like they say, then I imagine I can handle whoever
comes.

 

My gut is to tell folks lets show up Saturday and observe and see if Ryan
can tell anyone who calls or wonders to come by tomorrow night.  What do
folks think of coming Saturday.

 

I certainly DON"T expect any of you driving 2 hours to come tonight with
things like this.  Can any of you come tomorrow whether we have visitors or
not?  It sounds like a good night to observe either way.  I probably will
plan to go to Medoc Saturday night if some of you wish to come.  It's been a
long time since I had a good observing night and I would like to try.  


Will check email throughout the day, and if anyone wants to call me

My main push right now would be to go Saturday night and try to convince
anyone who was interested (visitors) to come tomorrow if they can.  If Ryan
is ok with that.  

 

But I WILL be there tonight to see what happens.  allen
