Jayme,
It was great seeing you at the Jordan Lake event and you were doing a fantastic job with the public! Maybe next time I will have the courtesy to extend some assistance to you!
Congrats to the Medoc Mountain group...that sounds unbelievable...I look forward to joining you there in the near future.
A Q for the DSO crowd....what is the smallest scope youve used to see the Horsehead UNFILTERED?

Nah - clear weather is what gets me out.
The coffee is the whipped cream on top!
I'll try and remember to bring some hot chocolate K-cups for Jenna and
any other kids that may show up.

Hi -
A reminder about skywatching at Jordan Lake (Ebenezer Church Recreation Area) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight (Saturday, Feb. 25). My colleague who's working at the planetarium today said she's been hearing a fair amount of interest from the public about the session, so we hope to see some of you there.
thanks,

The skies are very transparent here at medoc. We have already seen the hor

great stuff.
the seeing is awful here ( jordan lake ) but the transparency was amazing.
Lots of wind but still a big crowd.
the view of the Orion nebula here at Jordan lake was off the hook for this
location in my opinion. The moon and jupiter suffered from the bad seeing,
which was fine for people who rarely saw this stuff, but the Orion nebula
was something to see!
The crescent moon was still good, despite the wind, and caught a few nice
clusters, Andromeda, and the Eskimo nebula was nice - esp for my 6"
telescope. Good views for the deep space stuff.
If I wasn't under such a crunch this week I would call in sick monday and
go to Medoc tomorrow night - Sunday night - for a predicted *amazing* night
of transparent clear, steady perfect skies.

Well I didn't see everyone at Jordan lake but the turn out?by the public was wonderful. Morehead
staff?clicked in some?200 people that showed up to look through the telescopes even with the buffeting
wind coming in off the lake.
?
As Tony said the skies were great. I had a chance to look at Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Mars.
It's nice when you have that many planets to look at.?Mercury was good but we were looking through
a lot of atmosphere and eventual a tree as it headed to the horizon.??
?
Andromeda and the Orion nebula gave the guest a nice showing. The wind actually helped the viewing
on M42. The shaking of the scope helped to?define the edges of the nebula.
?
I hope everyone had fun last night, where ever you were.
