Please take a look at this event which has been organized by the UNC
student organization promoting space exploration (SEDS, the successor to
SpaceTalk of a few years ago). Patrick Gray, the president of SEDS, has
been to CHAOS meetings with some other members and it would be great if we
could plan joint events in the future as well as attending each other's
events.

*Hey Walter,*
*Here is a quick blurb about the Carolina Space Symposium that I'm
organizing. Could you forward this to anyone who you think would be
interested? I'd love to have all of CHAOS come out. Anyone is invited and
we'd like to have a sold out house (though it is free!)*
*Thanks!*
The Student's for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) chapter
at UNC Chapel Hill would like to formally invite you to one of the the
biggest space events of the year: the Carolina Space Symposium. The CSS
will be held at Hanes Art Center on the UNC campus on March 31st 2012. The
CSS (http://carolinaspacesymposium.wordpress.com/) has the following
speakers:
- former executive director of the Space Frontier Foundation Jeff Krukin
- NASA astronaut Dr. Andrew Feustel
- planetary geologist Dr. Mike Malaska
- expert on deep space exploration and interstellar propulsion Paul
Glister
- NASA scientist Russell DeYoung
- space entrepreneur Jason Dunn
- and more in the line up
The theme of the event will be on the intersection of current astronomy and
physics research with the recent developments in exploration of space both
in the private industry and the government. There will be a few
demonstrations including:
- a high-altitude weather balloon launch
- a free planetarium show
- and more throughout the day
We are expecting hundreds of attendees from around the state including
university officials and community leaders. We are having a luncheon with
the speakers, a networking event for all of the attendees to meet the
speakers and a dinner with the speakers. The event is free but you mist be
registered to attend and the lunch is $16. To register for the event or
lunch go here: http://carolinaspacesymposium.eventbrite.com/.
I look forward to seeing you on a day full of exploration and discovery!
Patrick Gray
