I'm hearing from our friends over at WRAL Weather not to get our hopes up but they tend to think very regionally and regionally things are far from great.
Looking at the cloud cover over Chapel Hill at the moment and the nearly half a state wide clear patch coming up in the west. We might get lucky and avoid enough clouds for a good part of the transit tonight. Think clear thoughts.

I am doing some outreach with this so I'm keeping fingers crossed for a good show. I've got Baader AstroSolar film over the stop-down hole and it worked beautifully when I tested on Saturday. The clarity of the sunspots when the air stilled was breathtaking!
