I was asked to go to CWR last night in Littleton.  They have a donated Meade SC 8"...the coma free model with LX200 drive.  They had never set it up because they didnt' know how.  I was able to put it together and get it going.  Not the GPS alignment etc....it was off some and i just set it up, made sure it worked, and took the instructions home.

But I had a nice impromptu crowd and they didnt' expect to see Saturn and Mars.  They were, as by now all of you know, absolutely overwhemed with the first view of Saturn.

I need to go back soon and get the software working on it so it will track ...after i read about it.  They also need a couple more eyepieces and a Telrad.

But Linda Harris, one of the directors, was really thrilled and asked if maybe we would be willing to come sometime and conduct a program.  They normally have 200 or so campers...and we could work out something with them.  But if i do something, i would like to have a representation kind of like we have at Medoc.

it is a neat place...they have old boxcars on tracks set up as dorms for campers.  they have different age levels different weeks.  Ms. Harris thought we might could try a program when they have high school youth there.  I'll try to find out more.

they are quite serious about turning the young folks to the sky.

CWR is a Christian oriented youth camp that is very active in the summer...since 1968 on Lake Gaston.

A nice place, and I think any of you who would be willing to go would enjoy it.  Might be a good chance to get a lilttle swimming in too!

they really were excited...I was supposed to be their only two hours or so but stayed from 630 to 1030 showing them the sky.  Most of them had NEVER experienced any of it.  allen
