Report on the ALCON in Chicago 

Jayme, I just got back from ALCON (skipping the award dinner tonight ). I personally had a total blast. It was hot like the blazes but mostly we were indoors, luckily. It was hot and hazy even at night and you could barely see the moon, even out at sea (out "at lake", aboard the tall sailing ship). One time you could just barely see Vega, that was sort of the big event, so the observing wasn't a big success. I found a good place to put the stuff about CHAOS I brought, and it was clearly visible. I left it on the table because there are still lots of people wandering around up there. I hope you didn't mean to get the booklet back. Many of the star party invitations had been picked up so I think it was a good idea to bring it. I met tons of people and told them about Chapel Hill as best I could, so I feel that I might have achieved something. 
Just an interesting factoid: It seems that all the taxi drivers in Chicago are recent immigrants from Slavic countries. 

Since I don't know how to send this to the membership, could you do that for me?
