[Chaos-l] nice night

Well, last night was the best sky Ive seen in a while.  there was a lot of ground fog at first, but it moved out, and the skies gradually cleared nicely.  The MW much in evidence. 



I couldn't stay long, for a couple of reasons, but enjoyed the company and the views.  My gosh, i didn't know what to do with myself.  Photons.  I enjoyed very nice views of M5 (at 420x) very steady, and the Veil, the crescent, then m8, m20, m17 in Sag.  Got a look at some carbon stars in Michael's scope, and also saw Pluto peep in and out through Jim P's dob. 



Also had a nice view early on through Loren's new mak. 



Thanks to Michael and Sandi, Loren, and Jim P. for coming out.  



When I left, I thought I heard something fall out of my car like keys or something like that, but my keys were all there, and i couldn't find anything on the pavement near the gate.  But when I got home I realized my glasses were missing.  I had to turn around and ride back and I was truly blessed to find them in the grass at the edge of the drive coming out of the gate.  They had hit the pavement and bounced into the grass.  I wouldn't have seen them except that the dew had coated the lenses and they looked white.  otherwise I probably would have not seen them at all because they are rimless.  Finally got to bed at 130am but not because I observed the whole time!  allen
