OTOH,  a 10" diameter flat lens (silicon & gold) would be VERY 
expensive! The mounting ring/fixture would also be quite costly. Tech 
support would also be a significant operating expense.
I can see this being considered for significant new major 
observatiories, with many $millions in funding, but not CHAOS membership!
Reality can be a bitch! :-(
