[Chaos-l] Fw: 12v battery recommendations

Costco sells a well-reviewed Kirkland deep cycle battery for about $68. It's rated at 125AH, though I think it's flooded, not maintenance free,  and not an AGM. Costco's batteries are produced by Johnson Controls, which also make the Duralast and Diehard batteries, as well as Wal-Mart's too (I believe.) If you feel crafty you can put one in a battery box and wire up some cigarette lighter receptacles (fused) and probably come in at half the price of a Sears Diehard Platinum ($220 @ 68AH).

Yes, that is about the only thing I don't have an AC adapter for.

I typically run two things on my dew zapper... One band around my 8" SCT and the other around my finder scope.  At full blast the battery only lasts an hour or two.  However, I've started putting them both on at about 20% as soon as it gets dark and it's never drained the battery, even after ~6 hours of continual operation with my mount, camera, and often a laptop also drawing power.

The radio built in stinks, but otherwise I highly recommend it.

Very happy with it so far.

 

I was looking at that one earlier. Do you run heaters off of it? How much time do you get on one charge?
