All,
I just wanted to chime in and say what a great time I had at the star party. I arrived Thursday afternoon and left Sunday morning so I could recuperate for work. I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks as well. The staff at the park were very friendly and helpful, and I really enjoyed having access to snacks and beverages at all hours. The truck camping aspect went well. It was a bit colder than I thought it would be, but I was prepared. I’m really looking forward to doing it again soon.
Most of you know I like to dabble in astrophotography. That being said I capitalized on the opportunity and got some of my best pictures yet.

With some help from Jayme and a South Carolinian astronomer named Joplin, I managed to find comet 168/P Hergenrother and image it too: http://www.astrobin.com/full/22598/. I guess that’s some practice for our visitors next year.
Also, I’d like to thank Jim Palermo for taking the time to go over collimation with me. We were able to confirm that my Hotech SCA laser collimator is out of collimation! And thanks to Walter for a great presentation as well. I’m looking forward to our first aurora!
Can’t wait for the spring SRSP!

Thanks for posting this on your blog. I loved the video and reading your thoughts and impressions.
I too was really thrilled with the SRSP. What a wonderful event.

I know SRSP is still happening (for those braving the rain and clouds), but wanted to say I had a great time. Awesome to see so many people out, such a range of telescopes, and great times sharing these common interests. Plus, no TV - longest time since I had seen a political ad in probably a year! Friday night was particularly memorable for me - it was an amazing night.
If anyone wants to see what I was up to, I did a couple blogs...
Here is some of the DSLR photographs (single shots, star trails, and a video) I acquired at the star party. Just a camera on a tripod (with dew control).

And some of the things I saw (kinda of an observational record):

Hope you all enjoy!
