The cool thing is that the superintendent of Medoc Mountain State Park came up to me (and at least one other person) Saturday night, and told me how he had found out about the "statewide star party" and on his own contacted the planetarium to become involved! Combine this with the advertising video from Staunton River State Park that mentions "dark skies and observing" as one of their draws and I think *we* (Morehead, CHAOS, RAC) are starting to make significant inroads in getting state parks to realize the skies are a resource, and perhaps cater to astronomers as visitors!
