[Chaos-l] Sir Patrick Moore 1923-2012

Host of the BBC's Sky at Night from 1954 until his final broadcast
last Monday, Moore missed 1 broadcast, the longest running show with
the same presenter. The common comment among everyone eulogizing him
today is  "he made astronomy accessible to everyone".

Moore was a prolific author writing "Yearbook of Astronomy" each year,
atlases of each planet, the solar system and the universe. He recent
wrote a book with Brian May (Queen's guitarist turned astronomer) on
the Big Bang.   I always enjoyed his 1953 "Guide to the Moon" (which
is available for free download here:
