[Chaos-l] Meeting Tomorrow

Hello everyone, 
  
Tomorrow is the second Tuesday of the month and you know what that means, it's CHAOS meeting day. 
  
Our speaker is Steven M. Christensen, Ph.D. 
  
Dr. Christensen is a theoretical physicist specializing in General Relativity and Gravitation, Quantum Field Theory, and Quantum Gravity. He was a professor of physics at UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where he taught the graduate courses in these subjects and helped to set up the National Center for Supercomputng Applications. He has also held positions at Harvard, Princeton, UCSB, and King's College-London. He is the developer of the MathTensor tensor analysis software for the Mathematica software system and is the founder and moderator of the Mathematica newsgroup and mailing list on the net. Since 1994, he has been a science, math, and computer science consultant and is the founder of the sunfreeware.com and unixpackages.com web sites providing more than 700 software packages to many thousands of government, military, university, and corporate organizations in virtually every country in the world. 
  
Dr. Christensen's topic will be about Black Holes. 
  
The idea of a black hole has been around for a long time and is one of the most active research fields in modern physics and astrophysics. In this talk, some history of where the idea came from, what we now know about black holes, and who the people are who have done the research will be presented. The statement everyone hears, 

"... not even light can escape." 

Come and join us a for this great program and find out what else is going on with CHAOS. We have the Staunton River Star Party quickly approaching and we have the "Statewide Star Party" coming up in April. There has been much talk about where CHAOS members are going to be. We want to make sure that we cover all that we can help with. 
  
Join us tomorrow at 750 Weaver Dairy Rd. in Chapel Hill. This is where Carol Woods is located and their Assembly Hall that they allow us to use. Our meeting begins at 7:00pm.
