[Chaos-l] video of daylight meteorite exploding over Chelyabinsk

I forwarded the Guardian article to some coworkers. One is Russian so I put
a language warning in just for him. He laughed and said that one of the
guys was yelling that they were being shelled as a prelude to an invasion.

It's interesting that this isn't believed to be related to 2012 D14, as it
approached from a different direction.

I wonder if Russian missile defense used any of the hotlines established
during the Cold War to confirm this wasn't an attack?

The Independant (for what it's worth) had this to say:

> While the consensus is that the explosion was caused by a meteorite, the
Russian Army has been put on high alert and nationalist politicians are
already suggesting a shadowy foreign plot could be behind the incident.
>
> Vladimir Zhirinkovsky, the leader of the ultranationalist Liberal
Democratic Party, lost no time in accusing the Americans of “testing a new
weapon” against Russia.
