Personally I think it was the old bate and switch routine and we all fell for it. Well it fell we watched helplessly.

So I know that they are calling it unrelated due to the N-S approach Vs the S-N DA-14 angle, but my own theory which I emailed to friends today,,,,

Nasa is calling the strike unrelated due to movement, traveling from N to S, where DA14 is traveling by S to N.  However, really, I am a bit skeptical, it’s quite a coincidence, I think you can’t decisively say either way.

Why?  Because most small body solar system objects have taken quite a beating during the time when the Solar System was much, much rockier and dustier.  Objects that have been broken into fragments tend to travel roughly together in the same orbit. So, a large debris field could easily be larger than the Earth as large as the Earth/Moon orbit say, and I think mathematically it’s easy to show objects from a large theoretical debris field pulled into Earth’s atmosphere from random directions.  But what do I know J

True ... seems legit.  What a cool coincidence (with 2012 DA14)!
