Weaver Dairy Road goes downhill toward the Park and the High School and 
there are a lot of tall trees in that area.

Other options are

Within Carol Woods walking toward I40

The Timberlyne Shopping Center parking lot (I have taken some sunset 
photos there.  I don't how low the moon/comet will be so I am not sure 
about any of these but they are close to the meeting site.)

The 86 overpass over I40.

I "think" these all have views to the West without tall trees close by.
