>From Durham NC using a DSLR with 250 mm lens. Clearly naked eye for at
least twenty minutes. After seeing all those jet contrails at the Staunton
River Star Party, I was ready to finally see a comet! Too bad my viewing
spot didn't lend itself to seeing the moon, too.

I went out to Maple View Dairy's Ice Cream place on Dairyland Rd. around
7:30. The moon became visible a short time later and not to long afterwards
the comet was plain to see. After it got darker, it was clearly naked eye.
My daughter and I spent the evening using a Pronto and a 22mm Panoptic. The
tail was pretty to look at. All told, we probably spent 30 minutes looking
at the comet.
