Update on Win 8 (Standard - not Pro):

Running all my programs successfully but took monumental effort as some have to be installed in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.  There is some software that won't run on a 64-bit machine, nor Win 8; however, I am happy to report the following programs do work fine in Win 8:

The Sky X Professional (also the Camera Add-On works great too!)
Maxim DL 4.61 and 5.23 work fine including PinPoint.
MaxPoint works fine.
PEMPRO
CCD AutoPilot
CCDStack
CCDInspector
Registax
K3CCD Tools
PhD
MetaGuide
FocusMax
RoboFocus
Starry Nights Pro Plus 6
Southern Stars Suite (Sky, Satellite, etc.)

Overall, I'm not thrilled with Win8 but it's the future.  It's a huge hurdle to deal with non-traditional Desktop but like life - one adjusts and moves on.  If you're running Win 7 don't upgrade yet especially if you run old software programs.  It's a memory hog; however, Trend Micro seems to work MUCH better with Win 8 than Win 7 - a testament to better security functions I guess?  Michael Fulbright commented that the security side of this latest OS from MS is much improved but did concede the User Interface isn't as friendly especially for non-touch screen devices.  Couldn't agree more!
