Right now I am not recommending Win 8 to anyone that has no beef with Win 7. I agree - MS should offer a way to turn Win 8 back into a Win 7 machine. The way this OS handles apps and frequent files is a memory hog and reminds me of a more cluttered UI.

I suspect I'm just an old, stubborn fool but I am disappointed with MS - they've done unpopular stuff before like Vista, Win 2000, etc. XP to me was fantastic and simple but like Swiss cheese with respect to security holes. At least Win 8 and Bit Defender works well in Win 8.

I'm on the cusp of reverting this brand new laptop back to Win 7 Pro but I'm hopeful MS will address the concerns expressed by it's customers. Back on April 11th, Wall Street downgraded MS especially after brass makes comments like this:

“At this point, unfortunately, it seems clear that the Windows 8 launch not only didn’t provide a positive boost to the PC market, but appears to have slowed the market,” Bob O’Donnell, IDC Program Vice President, Clients and Displays said in a statement.
