the world and of the oppressed, and that we may ourselves be liberated from
our despair. Bring a friend! At Ephesus Place. 7:00 PM.

the Occasional Chapel at Ephesus Place. 12 Noon.

1-5 year-olds during the Liturgy of the Word.
6:20 PM Pack up the closet and head out for ECOTA Brewery Night After
the liturgy is over and the closet is packed up, we¹ll move our Table
Fellowship to the Carolina Brewery 460 W. Franklin Street in Chapel Hill

asked to pay as they are able, but don¹t let finances hold you back! All are
welcome.
And Beyond
ADVOCATE TABLE FELLOWSHIP A PARADIGM SHIFT
Two years ago, the People of the Advocate thought it would be good to gather
for food and fellowship in the half hour between the liturgy and Christian
Ed each Sunday. And it has been good indeed. Average attendance has grown
from 25 or so to well over 50 on most Sundays. Many of us have enjoyed the
Advocate Table Fellowship and it has become an integral part of our life
together. But a few people have had to do a LOT of work, to make it happen
week by week.
So.... as we look to the new schedule, beginning August 20, we also need to
look for a new way of doing the meals.
In the weeks ahead, those who participate regularly in the Table Fellowship
are asked to consider becoming part of a Table Group the current thought
is to form eight (or nine) groups of 5 people each. Each group will be
responsible for one entire meal cooking, set-up and clean-up one Sunday
out of every 8 (or 9).
Each group will decide who would do what in terms of cooking, set-up and
clean-up (a comprehensive, clear set of simple and easy-to-follow
instructions is also being compiled.)
The group will decide for themselves what the designated cooks will cook (a
booklet of recipes with recommendations for how to cook vegetarian for 50 or
more is being compiled, stock pots will be provided).
Groups will be regrouped after three rounds (six months).
Key to this model is that any one person will only serve once in a two month
period. If there is no group assigned to a given Sunday, we¹ll enjoy
fellowship, but not dinner. If an individual can¹t serve on the Sunday
assigned, she or he can work it out with others in the group, or arrange to
swap with someone in another group for that Sunday.
As of last Sunday, we have two groups formed. So we will at least have
dinners once a month.
So get together with some others you know and form a group of five. Or sign
up to be in a group of others you don¹t yet know. Washing forks together is
a great way to bond!
If you have a group, or are willing to serve in a group with others, please
contact the Vicar. (lgf at ouradvocate.org).
If you already know of a Sunday between August 20 and September 31 when you
will be away, please add that information to your contact.
NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE AHEAD!!
In an effort better to accommodate the Sunday-Monday lives of many at the
Advocate, we will be moving to a new Sunday schedule beginning Sunday,
August 20. We will try it through May 2007 and see how it works for us.
3:30 4:00 PM Set-up and rehearsal of music of the day
4:00 4:45 PM Christian Education for all ages.
5:00 6:15 PM The Sunday Liturgy with Holy Eucharist
6:20 7:00 PM Advocate Dinner Fellowship or Just plain fellowship
(see note above)
The blessing of God,
The eternal goodwill of God,
The shalom of God,
The wildness and the warmth of God,
Be among us and between us
Now and always. Amen.
