Here¹s what¹s happening at the Advocate in the days ahead (new information
is printed in RED)
Fri., Jan. 12            Lesser Feast Friday (Remembering William Laud).Holy
Eucharist at the Occasional Chapel at Ephesus Place. 12 Noon.

Fri., Jan. 12 Film Night with Community Engagement As a prelude to the
Annual Legislative Breakfast for Mental Health, the Community Engagement
Group will show a documentary film that chronicles those who live with
mental illness, those who live & care for them and how mental illness
permeates much of our society and legal system. At Ephesus Place. Dinner at
6 PM. Film starting at 7 PM. If you plan to come for supper, please contact
Chip Matteson <cmatteson at thechapelofthecross.org>

Sat., Jan. 13 Annual Legislative Breakfast for Mental Health.
Lee Smith, Hillsborough resident & author, will describe the journey of her
son, Joshua, who lived with schizophrenia for 17 years with the aid of new
anti-psychotic drugs, family support, & extensive services from a variety of
community agencies. This informative session with members of the North
Carolina Legislature, will focus on the need for good community-based
services for those with mental illness.     The Friday Center, 100 Friday
Center Drive. Continental breakfast: 9:00 am. Program: 9:30-11:30 am. RSVP
942-8083 or if need be, just come on along!

Epiphany One, Sunday, January 7. At the Kehillah.

3:30 PM    Set-up of worship space at the Kehillah and Rehearsal of music
for the day.

4:00 PM   Christian Education

    Toddlers ­ 5 and under Our littlest learners will meet with Elizabeth
Lippincott and parent assistants for songs, stories and games.

    6-10 year-olds will meet with Buck Cooper and with Laurea and the older
kids, too, to play, and to learn and reflect on some of the great stories of
our faith.

    11 ­ 16 year olds will meet with Laurea Glusman and with Buck and the
younger kids, too, to enjoy fellowship, and to learn and reflect on some of
the great stories of our faith.

    Adult Ed ­ The Adults will gather in the west wing for the second of a
five-part series on Confronting the Sin of Racism (see attached) Led by Joy
M. Salyers. Before We Were White -- What does it mean to be white? When did
we become white? 


5:00 PM    Holy Eucharist  The Vicar will Celebrate and Preach. Child Care
and Education for 1-5 year-olds during the Liturgy of the Word.
Commissioning of All who are caregivers for others: homemakers and child
care workers; physicians, nurses and those who assist them; all counselors,
social workers and mental health professionals; all those who serve as
clergy, and the laity who support their work, and all who care for God's
people.

6:20 PM    Advocate Table Fellowship ‹ Please plan to stay for supper
(provided by Dinner Group 4), fellowship and conversation.

7:00 PM     Head out into the world in Peace.

All are welcome.

Thurs., Jan. 18     Holy Eucharist: The Confession of Peter. At the
Occasional Chapel at Ephesus Place. 12 noon.

Sun., Jan. 21                Epiphany III

4 PM                No Christian Education. Plan to stay for dinner and
Meeting!

5 PM                 Holy Eucharist. Commission of: All who care for
children and youth

6:15 PM            Dinner and Annual Meeting and Vestry elections.
(Childcare provided.)
