CROP Walk ahead. Sunday, April 15 at 2PM. Once again, the Advocate
will participate as a community in this community event to raise
consciousness about poverty, hunger and water. If you are interested
in walking or supporting walkers of the Advocate (WOTA?), you can
link to our team web page using the link on our home page, http://
www.ouradvocate.org. (Look on the bar on the right hand side of the
page -- "donate" by walking or sponsoring.)
Let's try to get at least eight people to sign up on the web. Those
who the web team, can send e-mails to friends and family asking them
to donate. Others can donate at Church or decide whether or not they
are able to walk on April 15. All money raised goes to fight hunger
worldwide and locally through the Interfaith Council.
Many of our friends in Haiti walk at least one hour each day to get
water for the day -- to do what we do by turning on the tap on a
whim. By walking on the Crop Walk we can unite in spirit with them
for a day.	For further information, please contact Barbara Rowan

The Millenium Devemopment Goals, the Advocate and Haiti. The Millenium
Development Goals, initially estblished by the United Nations, have
been adopted by the Episcopal Church, the Diocese of North Carolina,
and the Epipscopal Church of the Advocate. Among other things, the
MDGs ask governments, organizations, and individuals to donate .7%
of their income to individuals or organizations in developing
countries of the world. The Advocate will do this through our
Advocate Tithe, this year giving 10% of the Tithe, (1% of our pledged
and plate offering), $1000, to St. Innocents School and Church on La
Gonave Island in Haiti. Individuals and households of the Advocate
can give all or part of their own MDG donation this year to St.
Innocents, by writting checks to ECOTA with a memo for Haiti
Partnership. Funds will be wired to Haiti in April, June, October and
December.

Anti-Racism Work at the Advocate Continues.
	1) Tom Fisher, Frank Lombard and the Vicar will attend a Racism
Awareness Workshop sponsored by the Dicoese of North Carolina in
Raleigh this Friday and Saturday. Reports to follow
	2) A Yahoo chat room has been created for People of the Advocate to
talk about Race. To join, contact John Barnhart at:
johnnsandybarnhart at yahoo.com
	3) A list of films and novels that heighten our awareness about race
is being prepared. To make additions, contact Lamar Bland at:
blandl at elon.edu

Grant, most merciful Lord, to your faithful people pardon and peace,
that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a
quiet mind; through Christ our Lord. (from the Book of Occasional
Services Ash Wednesday blessing).
