Looking Ahead
Now We Are Four, Why Are We Here?
Sundays surrounding the fourth anniversary of our launch, in the
context of the Sunday liturgy the Vicar will present a reflection on
the vision and mission of the Episcopal Church of the Advocate.
Sunday, September 16: How Did We Get Here
Sunday, September 23: Where Are We Going?
Communion Matters -- A Meeting with Our Bishops The House of Bishops
of the Episcopal Church USA is meeting with the Archbishop of
Canterbury in September and has been asked by the Primates of the
Anglican Communion to respond to their request to clarify the
position of the Episcopal Church with respect to the blessing of same-
sex unions and the elections and consecration of gay or lesbian
Bishops living in partnerships by the 30th of September. In
preparation for that meeting, the House of Bishops commissioned the
study document entitled, Communion Matters: A Study Document for the
Episcopal Church, which was sent as a special edition of our Diocesan
Newspaper, The North Carolina Disciple in July and is also available
online at: http://www.epicenter.org/images/edot/Documents/PDF/
CommunionMatters.pdf.
The August issue of The Disciple (available online at: http://
www.episdionc.org/ncdisciple) contains a reflection on Communion
Matters by our Assisting Bishop, William Gregg.
On Tuesday evening, September 18th, People of the Advocate and all
other Episcopalians from through the Diocese will have the
opportunity to meet with our Bishops and clergy for an important
conversation regarding the study document Communion Matters. The
gathering for this region will be held 7-9 PM, at St. Mark’s in
Raleigh. Please contact the Vicar if you are not receiving issues of
The Disciple and/or if you are interested in attending this gathering.
On our hearts and on our houses,
the blessing of God.
In our coming and our going,
the peace of God.
In our life and our believing,
the love of God.
At our end and new beginning,
the arms of God to welcome us and bring us home. (Iona Blessing)
God bless you each and all in your ministry.
