Dear People and Friends of the Advocate:
Here's what's happening at the Advocate in the days ahead! New
Information in RED. Please see the Advocate Web Site
( www.ouradvocate.org ) for further updates and information.
Monday, October 29 We will celebrate the Feast of St. Simon and St.
Jude with a Holy Eucharist at Ephesus Place at noon.
Wednesday, October 31 -- Contemplative Prayer – 6-6:45 PM at
Ephesus Place. Open to all - seasoned contemplatives and those who
have never tried this way of praying before. Come and dwell with God.
Thursday, November 1
We will celebrate All Saints Day with a Holy Eucharist at Ephesus
Place at noon.
Men's Book Study at Ephesus Place at 7 PM. for further information

Sunday, November 4 -- All Saints Sunday
Lessons (from the Revised Common Lectionary): Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
Psalm 149 Ephesians 1:11-23 Luke 6:20-31
3:00 PM - 4PM. Adult Ed: The first of a three part series led by The
Rev Liz Dowling-Sendor on the Gospel of Mark. At Ephesus Place.
4:15 PM Set-up of worship space at the Kehillah and Rehearsal of
music for the day.
5:00 PM Holy Eucharist and the Baptism of Henry Rowan Cooper. As you
are able, please bring a gallon or three of water for the baptismal
pool. Also, to help us celebrate the Could of Witnesses that
surrounds us, the congregation is encouraged to bring photos - which
we will attach to display board around our worship space - of those
who have gone before -- loved ones, saints and Saints. Also, please
send the Vicar names of any who should be included in the prayers of
the Eucharist. (The Vicar will Celebrate and the Rev. Liz Dowling-
Sendor will Preach). Child Care and Education will be available for
1-5 year-olds during the Liturgy of the Word this Sunday.
6:20 PM Advocate Table Fellowship -- As you are able, please plan to
stay for dinner (an All Saints Advocate PotLuck Feast! As you are
able, please bring a dish to share conversation and fellowship.
7:15 PM Take-down, put away, and head out into the world in Peace.
Looking Ahead
Advocate Community Engagment -- All are welcome to participate in a
Meeting for the Tithe Distribution and Planning for Engagment Ahead.
7 at Ephesus PLace at 7 PM on Monday, November 5.
Advocate Blue Grass Mass at the Carrboro Century Center -- Sunday,
November 11, 5PM -- Bring a Friend and stay for dinner!
Their Stories Live On: An Interfaith Study of the Book of Genesis.
Join us as we meet with the Rabbi and members of the Chapel Hill
Kehillah to study and discuss the stories of Genesis. Our interfaith
group will be using engaging together in a Chevrutah study. 12 Noon
(bring a bag lunch) at the Kehillah Chapel: Wednesday November 14
(Original Sin), December 12, January 9.
A three-part Series on the Gospel of Mark, led by the Rev. Liz
Dowling-Sendor, Sundays at Ephesus Place, November 4, 11, and 18 (3-4
PM).
Book Study on The Color of Water: a Black Man's Tribute to His White
Mother, by James McBride. Continuing our conversations on race, we
will discuss the experiences and implications of the experiences of
James McBride, who grew up black with a white Jewish mother and 11
brothers and sisters in the 1960s and 70s. Led by the Vicar. 7 PM on
Tuesdays, November 6 !!! Note the delay in starting date!!!
(Identity, Exclusion and Inclusion), November 13 (Denial,
Suppression and Anger), and Date of the third session to be
determined: (profiling, programs, and Affirmative Action). Ephesus
Place.
