Dear People and Friends of the Advocate:

Here's what's happening at the Advocate in the days ahead! New  
Information in RED. Please see the Advocate Web Site  
( www.ouradvocate.org ) for further updates and information.

Wednesday, November 21 --  Holy Eucharist for Thanksgiving,  5PM, at  
Ephesus Place.

	Note: there will be no Contemplative Prayer at Ephesus Place this week.

Sunday, November 28 -- Christ the King -- at the Chapel Hill Kehillah	

Lessons (from the Revised Common Lectionary): Jeremiah 23:1-6, Psalm  
46, Colossians 1:11-20, Luke 23: 33-43.

11:0O AM	Infants and Toddlers of the Advocate (IATOTA) fellowship  at  
Ephesus Place (see description below).

4:00 PM 		Set-up of worship space and Rehearsal of music for the day.

5:00 PM  	Holy Eucharist. The Vicar will celebrate and preach. Child  
Care and Education will be available for 1-5 year-olds during the  
Liturgy of the Word this Sunday.

6:20 PM 		Advocate Table Fellowship -- As you are able, please plan  
to stay for dinner (provided) conversation and fellowship.

7:15 PM 		Take-down, put away, and head out into the world in Peace.

Looking Ahead

Future Neighbors Open House: All of the non-profit organizations at  
the Douglas Building in Carrboro (across from our future office at  
105 West Main Street)  invite you to an evening of food, facts and  
fun next Tuesday, November 27 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Come join our  
friends and future neighbors at El Futuro, El Centro Latino, Inter- 
Faith Council, JOCCA - Building Futures Youth Center and People of  
Faith Against the Death Penalty and see a centralized operations  
center that helps many of our neighbors and households in need.

Kids of the Advocate, age 5 and up, and their households are going  
our for fellowship, roller skating and pizza, Saturday, December 8,  
3-6 PM. Further details to follow.

Their Stories Live On:  An Interfaith Study of the Book of Genesis.  
Join us as we meet with the Rabbi and members of the Chapel Hill  
Kehillah to study and discuss the stories of Genesis.  Our interfaith  
group engages together in a Chevrutah study monthly at 12 Noon (bring  
a bag lunch) at the Kehillah Chapel: Wednesday December 12, January 9.

Advent Labyrinth Walk for the People of the Advocate: Saturday,  
December 22. 4-6 PM. details to follow.

Infants and Toddlers of the Advocate (IATOTA) fellowship. This  
gathering to pray and play and break bread together is held on the  
second and fourth Sundays of each month. It is open to all, but is  
especially for those whose nap-time may not end by 5 or who need to  
be in bed by 7, and the adults who care for them. Please invite  
friends too. 11 AM. At Ephesus Place.

Support for our partners in ministry: Give to the St. Innocents  
Church and School on La Gonave Island in Haiti. The Anglican  
Communion, the Episcopal Church USA and the Episcopal Diocese of  
North Carolina have all embraced the United Nations Millennium  
Development Goals and have agreed to "give 0.7 percent of our  
personal, congregational, diocesan and national church budgets to  
projects and organizations which work to eradicate extreme poverty  
and hunger, combat disease, and promote education and gender equality  
throughout the world.”
As you consider how your household might respond, please consider  
helping to pay the salaries of teachers at St Innocents School and  
Church on La Gonave Island in Haiti. There are 8 teachers at the  
school, each with an annual salary of about $1,200. Without our help  
they won't get paid. From the Advocate Tithe, we have sent 1% of our  
pledged and plate offering income for 2007 ($1000) to teachers  
salaries so far. Any gifts given from individual households will be  
wired on December 15. So if you would like to contribute to St  
Innocents this year, please do so by December 14. Checks can be  
written to the Church of the Advocate with a memo for the Haiti  
Partnership Fund.

An Advocate Mission Trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast is being  
planned for the week after Easter (March 24 - 30). It’s been a  
little over two years since Hurricane Katrina devastated the coast of  
Mississippi and brought overwhelming floods into New Orleans. This  
tragedy may no longer be the most pressing thing on our minds, but  
many families in this area are still without homes. So, the people of  
the Advocate are going to do what we can. Join us for a mission trip  
to the Mississippi coast from March 24-30 to help the people of  
Mississippi rebuild their homes, clean up, and help restore the  
beauty of the coastline. We’ll be staying at Mission Bay (Bay St.  
Louis, MS) and Camp Coast Care (Long Beach, MS), sister camps  
associated with the Episcopal church which grew out of the volunteer  
efforts that began in the early days of the clean up. All adults and  
youth in grades 7 and higher are encouraged to join us on this  
adventure!!! Please contact Sallie Moore at sallie305 at bellsouth.net

interested.
