Dear People and Friends of the Advocate:

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and  
put on the armor of light.... (Collect for the First Sunday of Advent)

Wednesday, December 5 --

	Contemplative Prayer – 6-6:45 PM at Ephesus Place. Open to all -  
seasoned contemplatives and those who have never tried this way of  
praying before. Come and dwell with God.

	Advent Evensong in the Occasional Chapel at Ephesus Place      
Evening Prayers with simple chants and a brief meditation appropriate  
to the Season. 7:00 - 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays (12/5, 12/12, 12/19).

Saturday, December 8  --

	Kids and youth of the Advocate and their households and friends will  
be getting together for skating and pizza this Saturday, December  
8th, from 3 to 6 pm.  Meet at Jellybeans Skating Rink in Cary (on  
Buck Jones Rd, just off Hwy 1) at 3 pm and skate for a couple of  
hours.  All families with children ages 6 to 14 are welcome.  Skates  
can be rented there or bring your own.  After we are sufficiently  
tired, we can eat there or (more likely) caravan to a nearby pizza  
eatery.  Jellybeans: 1120 Buck Jones Rd Raleigh, NC 27606, US.

Sharing Christmas: This Advent/Christmas the People of the Advocate  
are invited to share our bounty by giving items to a family from El  
Centro Latino -- a newborn named Julio, a ten-year-old girl (size  
12), a teen-age girl (misses size 8) and their mother (misses size  
8). No item is too small -- food, diapers, clothing. A basket will be  
provided at the Kehillah (and at the Community Church on 12/9) to  
collect items the first through the third Sunday of Advent (December  
16).

Sunday, December 9 -- The Second Sunday of Advent

	11 AM Infants and Toddlers of the Advocate (IATOTA) Eucharist and  
fellowship. This gathering to pray and play and break bread together  
is held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. It is open to  
all, but is especially for those whose nap-time may not end by 5 or  
who need to be in bed by 7, and the adults who care for them. Please  
invite friends too. At Ephesus Place.

Note!!!!	At the Community Church (Unitarian).	Note!!!!!	Note!!!!	 
Across Purefoy Road form the Kehillah	Note!!!! The People of the  
Kehillah will be having a Hannukah Party.

4:00 PM 		Set-up of worship space and Rehearsal of music for the day.

5:00 PM  		Holy Eucharist. The Vicar will celebrate and preach. Child  
Care and Education will be available for 1-5 year-olds during the  
Liturgy of the Word this Sunday.

6:20 PM 		Advocate Table Fellowship -- As you are able, please plan  
to stay for dinner (provided) conversation and fellowship.

7:15 PM 		Take-down, put away, and head out into the world in Peace.

Looking Ahead

Wednesday, December 12		Their Stories Live On:  An Interfaith Study  
of the Book of Genesis.
Join us as we meet with the Rabbi and members of the Chapel Hill  
Kehillah to study and discuss the stories of Genesis.  Our interfaith  
group engages together in a Chevrutah study monthly at 12 Noon (bring  
a bag lunch) at the Kehillah Chapel: Wednesday December 12, January 9.

Sunday, December 16 -- The Third Sunday of Advent -- Back to the  
Kehillah for the liturgy, and on to the Davies home for dinner  
fellowship afterwards. Directions will be provided at Church.

Saturday, December 22		Advent Labyrinth Walk and Quiet Time
Gather at the setting of the sun with other people of the Advocate at  
the Duke Meadowlands Campus in Hillsborough for time of prayer, an  
introduction to the labyrinth and an opportunity for reflection on  
darkness. Led by William Holloman and Char Sullivan.
Child Care provided (please contact William Holloman by 12/19 if you  
would like child care).
Starting time 4 PM, ending time 6 PM. The house will be open at 3:30  
for those who wish to arrive early.
Directions: from Chapel Hill 86 North to Hillsborough. Right turn on  
70 business. .3 miles, right turn on Meadowlands Drive. First right  
onto Corporate Drive. Follow the circle to the right around the house  
towards the barn.  (if you get lost, call 919-219-4437).


May the Sun of Righteousness shine upon you and scatter the darkness
