Just picked up the mail and sent one membership to Abbie. Everything 
else (newsletters, announcements, etc.) can wait until next week.

Thanks for checking in with me, Diane, and for everyone's cards, calls, 
and notes. My precious children are continuing the long hard struggle of

recovery. If only there were more I could do for them.

I will definitely be at the conference next week. Going places and doing

things has been my best medicine. I've been at work most days - because 
I can hide out here and stay busy. Everyone has cut me a lot of slack on

projects and such. 

I'm happy to pick up the ball on volunteer coordinator. Most of the 
inquiries have been "Can I get my fees reduced by volunteering?"  
Otherwise I have a couple of folks who are awaiting assignments upon 
registration - and Jackie Trickel who said "what can I do to help?"

I know that Shelby needs help with the auction - and I've emailed that 
to Jackie. I'm sure we need help with registration as well.

Are there some registrants - like students - who we are expecting to 
volunteer?

Oh, yes, and I have pink volunteer ribbons to attach to the name tags. 
Don't buy more.

On carpooling: I have exactly one request - from Ann Walter-Fromson, who

would like to carpool from Greensboro, Friday to Sunday. (I have more 
details.) And Abbie and Marc and I have said "Let's do carpool."

Last year I had no more than 10 requests - and I'm not sure I was able 
to connect any of them because of they were attending at different times

and from different parts of the state.

I'll be driving up on Thursday morning in a Crown Victoria that I will 
leave in Asheville with my son in law's parents. I'll need a ride back 
with someone on Sunday.
I can carry people and stuff (it's a monster boat) on Thursday. Load me
up.
