There are so many of you doing great things out there...I just wanted you to be aware of this opportunity for recognition.
Carolina was named the 2002 Outstanding College or University Program winner and in 2001 we received a Buy Recycled Award.

The Carolina Recycling Association (CRA) is pleased to call for nominations for the 2008 Annual Awards Ceremony to be held during the CRA 18th Annual Conference & Trade Show March 25-28, 2008 in Raleigh, NC.  Each year, the best programs, projects and individuals in North and South Carolina are honored at the Annual Conference for outstanding achievement and commitment to the mission of the CRA.  Winners will be recognized during the Awards Luncheon at conference on Thursday, March 27 at the Hilton North Raleigh.

**** Because we know that there are so many wonderful programs and dedicated recyclers out there that should be acknowledged we have decided to extend the submission deadline to February 15, 2008.  Let's give credit where credit is due and nominate a friend, colleague, local program, even yourself for one, or more, of the many award categories listed below!!*******

SUBMISSION DETAILS

Is the nomination process long?
No! Simply nominate a program by submitting a bulleted list no longer than one, double sided, recycled content, 8 1/2" by 11" sheet exampling how the organization met the criteria of the award. Please give as many examples as possible and feel free to include links to web sites that document the program or person's accomplishments. Be sure to include the award nomination category, program contact info, entrants contact info (if different), and 1-3 media sources for press release distribution. There is no separate form to complete other than the double-sided sheet. Please feel free to include examples of materials as needed. These items WILL NOT be returned.

Can I nominate myself?
Absolutely! No one knows your program better than you.

Will the winners be notified before the awards lunch?
No. All winners will be surprised during the awards program.

How many awards can I submit an entry for?
A program or individual can be entered in no more than two categories. If a program or individual has received an award in the past years, they cannot be nominated for that same award. A program or person may not receive more than two award categories per year.

How do I find out if I won?
All nominees will be recognized in the conference program with the hopes they will share their successful strategies with others. Winners will be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at the Hilton North Raleigh, NC. They will also be recognized in the quarterly newsletter The Rword, the CRA weekly e-bulletin R-Bulletin and through press releases sent to media representatives in North and South Carolina.

Can I submit my packet via e-mail?
Yes, please! E-mail submissions are preferred but mailing is fine also. Send completed packets to Velesaris via email at lnvelesaris01 at aol.com<mailto:bargebf at co.mecklenburg.nc.us> or Fax to the CRA Attn: Lisa Velesaris, (919) 545-9060.  If you have materials that cannot be sent via email or fax, please mail them to the CRA at PO Box 1578, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

When's the deadline?
Submissions must be received or postmarked by 5:00 pm on February 15, 2008.
