[Eenc-board] foster kids

Hey there.
I just had my first foster experience over the last 5 days. I had a 6 month
old and her 16 year old niece. The baby was as sweet and easy as could be.
I feel fortunate as this was my first experience parenting a baby. The
teenager was a typical teenager, except that she didn't speak much English
and wasn't willing to bother using even that. With my limited Spanish it
made for an interesting weekend. She was basically a good kid- just a
teenager. I got the cold shoulder- in Spanish. Wow! All in all, it was a
very good experience.
I'm apparently now on the DSS radar- finally- and they've asked me to do
repsite care (basically babysitting for a few days while the full-time
foster parents are out of town) the weekend of our meeting. Since this has
been a focus and priority of mine for some time, I accepted. So... I'll be
chasing a 20 month old rather than visiting with y'all on the 16th.
Have a great meeting. I'm glad to share anything Kelly needs, if you'll
pass that along.
Buenos suerte, amigos!
Alice
