Kudos, congratulations and thank you!!!

We were successful in securing enough signatures on the House of
Representatives letter requesting restoration of funding for the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Education to
advance the letter to the Appropriations Committee of the Subcommittee
on Interior and Environment this week. Great work by everyone; this was
a fantastic, nationwide team effort. Your actions resulted in signatures
from Representatives on both coasts, numerous points in between, and
about half Republicans and half Democrats. This cross-section of
signatures demonstrates that environmental education is important across
the country and is a bi-partisan priority.

I will forward you the confirmed list of signers as soon as the letter
is finalized. I will also provide an update on where we are with the
Senate letter.

On behalf of NAAEE and the entire environmental education community,
(and especially those who receive substantial funding from the U.S.
EPA’s Office of Environmental Education – NAAEE included!), a sincere
thank you for your quick turn-around and successful communications to
your Representatives and their staff’s to get signatures on the letter!
Even if your organization has not been a direct recipient of an EPA
grant, the programs and infrastructure that this funding provides
significantly benefits all of us and the advancement of environmental
education in general.

The grassroots advocacy of the NAAEE Action Network and NAAEE Affiliates
has grown into a strong and effective force. The strength of your
leadership has given environmental education a voice as both a
profession and a critical entity that must be included in every
discussion about the future. We still have lots to do – but to turn this
around within a week is an exemplary feat! We cannot thank you enough.

More soon…
